Maya’s first guest and her first kiss!! She just went right up to him and laid one on his lips! And by laid one on him, I mean, wide open mouth and move in close. Touch the lips a few times and was done. She sure picked a cute one for a first kiss!
The very first time I’ve ever seen her just stand up and not hold onto anything. So exciting!
Is that not an awesome giraffe cake!!
A year ago tonight I went into labor, actually at the same time as I type this – 9:20pm. 29 hours later I met the love of my life, Maya.
Today I had her first birthday party. It was a very special being her first birthday. Her grandpa (my father) and her Oma (her father’s mom) flew in for the special occasion. So awesome to have them there.
It’s a bit crazy trying to figure out what to do for a one year old. I totally forgot about feeding her guest, besides cake, until last night. We actually left the food trays in the fridge and I remembered while we were setting up. Thankfully grandpa was able to drive back and get them.
I thought the most appropriate activities for kids her age until about 4/5years old was a sand box and water table. (Which in turn were her birthday presents from me) Both were a big hit!! Especially to the birthday girl! I just knew my kid would be the one who would need an entire change of clothes in the middle of the party from the water table (She loves water! And is such a fun, silly girl in the bath) and was prepared with a few cute backup outfits.
The day was great! I became emotional at the end, no big surprise, just being overwhelmed with the fact that she is one. I can’t believe she is one! How is it less than two years ago I never would have thought about a life with a child and now I can’t ever remember life before her.
